This past Friday, myself and a few friends decided that we were long overdue a catch up and some cocktails. University stress reached an all time high and we were all going a bit spare after staring at computer screens for hours on end. We decided to head into Glasgow for some dinner, drinks and a bloody good chat.
We ended up in Sugar Dumplin in Princes Square from Glasgow. A Barbadian/Jamaican themed bar/restaurant with some of the weirdest yet most aesthetically pleasing decor and even better cocktails. It’s definitely a quirky place so maybe not for those who prefer something a little more plain jane. I honestly loved it – Sugar Dumplin is my kinda place (hence the billion photos of the interiors – I can’t help myself).
While we didn’t eat here but there was a bunch of people in for food and it looked and smelled UNREAL so naturally this is somewhere on my list to head for food next time I’m out and about. Cocktails however, are definitely something I can comment on – The menu is extensive and they’re all themed around The Caribbean. I recommend ‘Cool Runnings’ if you don’t mind having a blue tongue for the rest of the night.
I’d really recommend heading to Sugar Dumplin if you’re looking for something a wee bit different. It’s super relaxed and really chilled out – giant sofas to lounge on, barrel table and the best reggae playlist you could ask for. Paintings of Bob Marley everywhere , thousands of rainbow lights and lots of neon signs – What’s not to love? There really isn’t much in Glasgow that is similar and that’s what makes this place a bit of a gem. I’ll definitely be heading back soon!
I had the loveliest night with some of my closest friends. Sometimes it’s just nice to get out the house (even if you know you should probably be working on assignments) to have a catch up and a laugh.
